VISION OF ODIN | HOLSTEBRO (DNK) | Video mapping installation

In his video installation "Vision of Odin", Stefano Di Buduo picks up Eugenio Barba’s metaphoric definition of “performance” as a “tightly woven net, which we must break through in order to liberate, in an unforeseen moment, fragments of our past and of our experiences.” Di Buduo creates a scenario using elements of nature (fire and water: waves, rain, and snow), graphical and architectural animations, which evoke the fugacity of theatre. Figures and scenes from Odin's 50-year-long history fly in, emerge, and disappear. Relations are shown, but new references and constellations are created. The characters and figures from the nearly 150 chosen pictures are subtly animated using the parallax effect, bringing them back to life. The installation is unique in that static photos are transformed into alienated film sequences interspersed with Eugenio Barba’s quotations.

The installation uses three wide-angle projectors to create a 14-minute sequence, with images seamlessly aligned to generate a 16-meter projection surface around a corner, creating the illusion of one enormous picture.
