The studio was founded by Stefano Di Buduo in 2008.
Stefano Di Buduo is a German-Italian video artist, documentary filmmaker and scenographer. He studied Arts and Sciences of the Digital Performance at the Università La Sapienza in Rome. After the studies he founded the multimedia company Aesop Studio in 2008. His projects have taken him to France, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, USA, China , India, Iran and repeatedly to Germany and Italy. Beginning in 2005, Stefano worked extensively as a multimedia artist for the urban space project Città Invisibili (Invisible Cities) of the Italian Teatro Potlach, performing in numerous cities throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He has since created video installations and mappings for prestigious international festivals and events. Notable works include the 500 Years of Luther video installation at Holstebro Festuge in Holstebro, Denmark; Under Water on Lake Resia in Curon, Italy; and Whisper of the Trees in Skjern, Denmark. In 2024, he presented his latest installation, The Island of the Olmecs, in Mexico City.
In 2023 he designed the concert tour SETE for italian rapper Mezzosangue. In the same year he designed the concert tour of italian singer Max Gazzé.
Stefano collaborates regularly with esteemed directors such as Eugenio Barba, Bernadette Sonnenbichler, Yael Ronen, Falk Richter, and Wolfgang Menardi. His recent work has been featured at major theaters, including the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Berliner Ensemble, Münchner Kammerspiele, Thalia Theater Hamburg, Dramaten Theater Stockholm, Schaubühne Berlin, and Schauspiel Hannover. Notably, the productions Slippery Slope (Maxim Gorki Theater) and The Bucket List, for which he designed the digital scenography, were both invited to the prestigious Theatertreffen Berlin.
Stefano’s debut film, Zona Limite, was selected for the “Festival dei Popoli” in Florence and was later acquired by the Italian public broadcaster RAI.
